Île d’Yeu: discover Port-Joinville and its heritage
Busy port and maritime museums
If you want to see far, you have to turn your gaze towards L’Île d’Yeu. Set sail for the 23km² island and arrive at Port Joinville, a bustling port with trawlers and numerous small fishing boats, their multicolored pennants flapping in the wind. Behind the quays, the narrow shopping streets invite you to stroll. After rounding the monument on Place de la Norvège, erected to commemorate the 1917 rescue, you can visit the Sea Rescue Museum and extend your visit with the Fishing Museum.

Île d’Yeu: hiking, cliffs and typical ports
Wild nature and seascapes
At your own pace, by bike, on foot, by train or by car, you’ll discover the charms of the Ile d’Yeu. You can start your tour in the north of the island, heading for “La Pointe du But”. You’ll be amazed by the south coast, with its majestic cliffs and numerous sheltered coves. The “Vieux Château” rises out of this majestic landscape. Carried along in your quest for nature on these sea-side paths, you’ll make your way down to “Port de la Meule”, a typical fishing port. Before reaching “La Pointe des Corbeaux”, you’ll try to move “La Pierre tremblante”. Continue on to “La Pointe des Corbeaux”. Along the way, you’ll discover a wealth of flora and fauna, including many species of orchid.
You’ll then go in search of a few local gourmet products (tuna pâté, smoked tuna, prune tart) to bring back souvenirs of this iodized island. Then it’s time to take the boat back to the mainland. An unforgettable day!
A ticket office is available at the reception of the Domaine des Salins campsite at very attractive prices. Boat departs from Saint Gilles Croix de Vie.
