Noirmoutier Island: nature, villages and beaches
Woods, Bonnotte and bicycle paths
Noirmoutier is a richly endowed island with remarkable flora and fauna. In the north of the island, Noirmoutier’s town center is full of narrow streets and picturesque spots. Surrounded by holm oaks, you can discover the Bois de la Chaise and its sheltered coves. Follow the coast on foot or by bike to the charming little village of Le Vieil. Past the agricultural plain where the delicious “Bonnotte” is grown, discover the fishing and yachting port of l’Herbaudière: a pleasant place to stroll, with souvenir stores and restaurants. The whole island is criss-crossed by cycling and hiking trails.

Passage du Gois: a single submersible road
Mythical crossing to the rhythm of the tides
To finally reach this“nature” destination, at low tide times, we take a submersible route that is unique in the world: the Passage du Gois. This unique junction is also a wonderful place to live. Whether it’s under the ocean or out in the open, the Gois attracts birds looking for rest and food, as well as fishermen on foot (clams, cockles, oysters…). Crossing it is an exceptional experience, but beware of tide times!
