Lick your lips with sardines from Saint Gilles Croix de Vie and oysters from Beauvoir sur Mer and its famous “Port du Bec”, then discover the many facets of the mogette, accompanied, why not, by Vendée poultry, sold all over the world! Don’t miss the frogs’ leg, with its parsley and finesse.
Time for cheese? Then try a piece of mizotte, a russet cheese that awakens the taste buds.
For dessert, take your pick: flan maraîchin with its divine crust, millet with a hint of red fruit jam or the delicious caillebottes made with local milk!
With your coffee, you won’t be able to get enough of the famous brioche de Vendée, or its cousin, the gâche.

Must-have products
Oysters from Vendée Atlantique, to be enjoyed without moderation:
And as they say in Vendée dialect: O’lé pas rond mais O’lé bon!
Because yes, it’s not just Marennes d’Oléron (you probably remember the advert ;)) that can be proud of its oysters. Here in the Vendée, too, thousands of tons of shellfish are produced every year between the marshes and the ocean! And that’s what makes them such an incomparable delicacy.
Oysters from the Vendée-Atlantique region are farmed along nearly 80 km of coastline in 3 different basins: Baie de Bourgneuf – Noirmoutier, Talmont St Hilaire and Baie de l’Aiguillon. The combination of two distinct aquatic environments, the influence of the marshes and the saline variations of the ocean, gives a balanced taste to the Vendée oyster.
This appellation has been a certified label since 1992 (almost 25 years!). So, sure, it’s easy to enjoy, but what about growing it?
To do so, follow the “Route de l’Huître Vendée Atlantique” from Beauvoir – Noirmoutier to Bourgneuf en Retz, near Pornic. Here, you’ll learn all the rudiments of the trade and become the king of shellfish farmers! A truly instructive tour awaits you: growth, development, character, taste – you’ll know everything there is to know about oysters!
So for us, it’s decided: as a starter, Vendée oysters will take pride of place, and what about you?
Here’s an original recipe to impress your guests.
